The public was sensitized on the Radios, community information centers (CICs) and with P.A van on the need to observe food hygiene and the food drink vendors were educated on the need to undergo medical examination/screening. Also, they were enlightened on the need to keep the surrounding of where they prepare and sell their foods tidy.
Medical screening of food/drink vendors is one of the activities the Unit conducts annually for all food/drinks vendors in the catchment of the municipality.
The 2022 medical screening exercise started in December 2022 and is still ongoing. All the Zonal Areas (Effiduase, Asokore, Oyoko, Akwadum and Jumapo) of the Municipality are being covered during the exercise. An update will be reported as to the number of vendors screened in addition to other details.
About Four hundred and fifty (450) food and drink vendors have been medically screened so far out of which fourteen (14) have tested for typhoid.
Any vendor who tests positive to typhoid or hepatitis B is referred to the hospital for further examination and treatment.
