PROSECUTIONS

During the reporting period eight seven (87) mandatory/abatement notices were served. Sixty seven (67) compiled with the directives.

Eighteen (18) court summons were served on sanitary offenders and seven (7) were cases went through successful prosecutions. The remaining cases are still in being pursued.

More efforts are being made to educate and sensitize the populace on the need to tidy up their environment to avoid having issues with the law.

 

 

 

 

 

NOTABLE ACHIEVEMENTS

  1. The EH&SU has facilitated the evacuation and renovation of the waste stabilization pond for disposal of liquid waste in the municipality and the adjoining municipalities.
  2. The EH&SU Facilitated evacuation of two refuse heaps in two towns namely Oyoko and Suhyen.
  3. Innovated the conversion of two motor tricycles into meat vans for the hygienic transportation of meat from the slaughter slab to market centers.
  4. Successfully prosecuted seven sanitary cases in the Magistrate court B.

CHALLENGES

Below are some of our challenges;

  1. Inadequate sanitary tools for effective work.
  2. The slaughtering slab needs an immediate facelift as prepare to build a modern slaughter facility. Its current state does not ensure effective work.
  3. Computer and accessories for effective compilation of reports and data capture.
  4. Ineffective collaboration with other departments for effective work.
  5. The Assembly should gazette its bye-law to ease the process of prosecuting sanitary offenders in the municipality.

WAY FORWARD

Our way forward planned activities are as follows;

  1. Push for the construction of a modern slaughter house befitting the status of our municipality.
  2. Facilitate the Procure of more sanitary tools for effective.
  3. Facility the provision of subsidy to households for the construction of household toilets.
