The facilitators stressed on the need for all the students to abstain from sex as this was the time for them to focus on their books. In addition, they were asked to avoid sharing sharp objects with others and that, it was best for them to possess such for personal use.

All questions inquired of by the students were duly answered by the facilitators. They were also encouraged to share the knowledge they had acquired about HIV with their friends and family members.

A Voluntary Counselling and Testing stand was mounted during the Municipal Farmers’ Day celebration at the Forecourt of Oyoko New Palace for all interested persons to freely be counselled about HIV/AIDS and also to get tested and know their HIV statuses.

5.0 CONCLUSION

On the whole, the HIV/AIDS sensitization programs in the JHSs in Asokore as well the Voluntary Counselling and Testing session organized were a success.

The New Juaben North Municipal AIDS Committee is therefore on course with its responsibility of embarking on efforts aimed towards HIV prevention and control. It is therefore the hope of the MAC to continue in this regard.
