38TH FAMERS’ DAY CELEBRATIONS AT NEW JUABEN NORTH MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY

38TH FARMERS’ DAY CELEBRATION
The New Juaben North Municipal Assembly today awarded eighteen (18) Farmers in the Municipality. The 38th National Farmers’ Day was organised at the forecourt of the Oyoko Chief’s Palace where a 37 years old university graduate from Suhyen, Mrs. Portia Owusu Sekyere, the Chief Executive Officer of YAKAAB Poultry and Crops Farms was adjudged the overall best Municipal Farmer. She has four acres of coconut, 20 acres of maize, 20 acres of cocoa, ten thousand pieces of layers, among others. She took home a Knapsack spraying machine, machetes, half piece of cloth and 58 inches flat screen television set.
Madam Portia thanked all her farm hands who contributed to her success and debunked the notion that farming is for illiterates.She urged graduates especially women to venture into farming since farming is a lucrative business.
The New Juaben North Municipal Chief Executive, Madam Comfort Asante, commended Farmers for contributing greatly to the country’s economy. She said the planting for food and job policy introduced by the Government is yielding a positive result.
Hon. Comfort Asante said Government will continue to invest into agriculture to ensure food security in the country.
Mr. Abraham Tetteh from Asikasu grabbed the first runner up award whiles Madam Leticia Adjei from Oyoko was adjudged the second runner up.
