The New Juaben North Municipal Assembly and the Member of Parliament, Nana Adjei Boateng have made available relief items to be distributed to victims of the affected flood people in the Municipality.
The items were rice ( 200) bags, sardines (30) boxes, blankets (200) , second hand clothes (14) bales, plastic cups(180),plastic plates(300),mosquito nets(200),soap(10)boxes, mosquito coil(3)boxes and Rubber bowls(100)pieces.
The items were presented to the Assembly’s Hon Assembly members representing the affected communities, the Member of Parliament urged the Assembly members to distribute the items evenly to the affected persons.
He advised the citizenry to desist from building on the River banks and near the streams.
The Member of Parliament stressed that the heavy rains being experienced in Ghana in this recent times have generally had a negative impact on our livelihood as many areas in the country got flooded and properties had been destroyed.
He also acknowledged that the relief items will not take the victims to their normal lives but it is purposely to relieve them from their current situations.
He further called on the traditional authorities, journalists, institutions, Assembly members and other relevant stakeholders to join the efforts by the President of Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo to combat galamsey in the country.
The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Comfort Asante, on her part empathized with victims who were affected by the flood and the family of the deceased.
She also said the Assembly is working hard with education directorate to reopen schools which were closed as a results of the flood.
The Assembly members expressed their gratitude to the Assembly and the MP for their assistance to their people who were affected during the flooding in their communities.
