MEET THE PRESS

The New Juaben North Municipal Assembly has organized a Meet the Press session following the directive from the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development (MLGRD) and the Ministry of Information.

The focus of the meet the press series was on Nation Builders Corp (NABCO), Scholarship beneficiaries and Infrastructural development in the Municipality.

The presentation started with a brief profile of the New Juaben North Municipal Assembly by the Municipal Chief Executive Hon. Comfort Asante stating the New Juaben North Municipal Assembly was curved from the old one of New Juaben Municipal Assembly backed by LI 2302 on 2017 with the Municipal capital as Effiduase.

The Municipal Chief Executive started the presentation with the Nation Builders Corp (NABCO). She said the Nation Builders Corp is a government initiative to address graduate unemployment situations. Honorable Comfort Asante said what every Ghanaian yearns for is to have our scholars and skilled people get work. “So they can contribute to the success of the country”. She said.

“The NABCO has absorbed our teaming graduate who were itching to work but work was no were to be found”. She added.

The New Juaben North Municipality has about 414 personnel under the seven various modules of the NABCO thus Feed Ghana, Educate Ghana, Civic Ghana, Revenue Ghana, Digitize Ghana, Enterprise Ghana. Out of these 414 NABCO personnel, about 109 personnel have been posted to the Educational Sector with majority of them being in various schools in the Municipality with the majority of them in the various schools within the municipality. 66 personnel in the Health Sector, 137 personnel are in the Municipal Assembly with majority of them being revenue collectors helping the Assembly to improve in internal revenue mobilization. The rest of the personnel have been posted to other Agencies such as Lands Commission, Food and Drugs Authority, Centre for National Culture among others.

Honorable Comfort Asante said “Employing this 414 within the Municipality it has reduced drastically graduate unemployment within the municipality and the country at large”.

The Municipal Chief Executive also touched on scholarship beneficiaries. She said the government has decentralized the National Scholarship awarded to tertiary students to the Municipal District Assemblies.

“For the first time in the history of Ghana tertiary students who will want to the government to support them with their education will not need to apply to the National Scholarship Secretariat”. She added.

A total number of sixty (60) applications were received. After three days of interview, thirty-nine applicants (39) passed successfully. Out of the thirty Nine (39), 17 were female and 22 were male.

Some of the institutions of the applicants were Koforidua Technical University (KTU), All Nations University College, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), University of Cape Coast (UCC) among others.
