The New Juaben North municipal Assembly have held a media briefing on the current flooding in the communities within the Municipality, its effects and the way forward on 5th October, 2022.
The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Comfort Asante in her address said the rains started last week Friday and gradually built up and flooded downstream making it impossible for the River Densu to contain the flow.
On Sunday 2nd October, 2022 ,the Assembly in conjunction with the National Disaster Management organization, Regional Highways, Urban Roads, Municipal security council and member of Parliament for New Juaben North constituency to assists and to contain the flooding situation.
Data collected throughout the Municipality indicated that the worse hit communities are Akwadum and Asokore.
The Municipality recorded one death and has since been buried.
Affected people recorded is 2686 made up of 977 children comprising 489 males and 488 females, adults affected are 1708 and 203 households have completely collapsed.
The Assembly have mobilized some relief materials which is to be distributed to the affected people whilst we solicit support from the Regional and the National Disaster Management organizations.
We are appealing to the International community, Non-Governmental organizations, Government institutions, civil society, Private organizations and individuals for support both in cash and in kind as a relief to the people affected.
