PUBLIC REACTION ON THE MCE’S REVOCATION OF APPOINTMENT.

A public reaction report was conducted in the New Juaben North Municipality in relation to revocation of Appointment as  Municipal Chief Executive in accordance with article 243 (3)(b) of the constitution and section 20(3)(b) of the local Government Art, 2014 (Art936).

Are as follows;

Mr. Richard Amoako, a driver at Effiduase, stated that he had not heard of the replacement of the MCE. He continued by saying that, if indeed it was true, then it was the right decision made by the government because, in his opinion, Madam Comfort Asante, the former MCE had not done any helpful projects in the municipality. He said she barely had any form or sort of relationship with the town people.

Mr. Kwame Asamoah, a trader in Effiduase said he heard the news on Monday evening and was quiet shocked that she was being replaced since it was an election year. He further said that she had not done much in the municipality so it was okay being asked to step down.

Madam Isabella Oduro, a trader at the Effiduase market said, she was very displeased with the replacement of Madam Comfort Asante. She stated that she should have been allowed to run her full term because, she had done a lot of important projects in the municipality. She has a good human relation. She always comes when she’s called upon. She renders help when she can and has a good listening ear.

Mr. Tweneboah Koduah, a nurse at Akwadum, said he was very pleased when he heard that the MCE was being replaced. He said age wise, she was past her pension and she needs to be sent home to rest. And in his opinion, she performed very poorly during her reign and he had not seen any beneficial projects put up by the former MCE. Mr. Koduah said he’s looking forward to what the newly elected MCE would also do.

Mrs. Anastasia Quarm, a headmistress in Asokore said, she did not take the news to well because the former MCE Madam Comfort Asante had worked very hard and done a lot of developmental projects for the municipality. She said she had a very cordial relationship with everyone and had an open office policy. She continued by saying she will always remember Madam Comfort Asante’s help to her school when their roof came off just about a year ago. She also said, she was advanced in age and that the rest might be good for her and though she is not happy about her being replaced, she looking forward to the new appointee and hoping he’s able to do just as much as Madam Comfort Asante had done for the municipality.

Mr. Sasu, a trader Suhyen said, he was aware of the MCE being replaced and he linked the idea. He said Madam Comfort Asante’s age does not permit her to actually do her job like she should. Therefore, he excited for the newly appointed MCE and hopes he comes up with fresh ideas to make the municipality a better place.

 

Madam Millicent Nyarkoah a lawyer in Jumapo said she heard the news on Monday from a colleague but was not sure if it was true or not. She got her confirmation from the late night news. She said she thinks the government knows best and that if they deem it fit that they replace the MCE, then that’s okay. Moreover she looks forward to what the new selectee has in place for the municipality.

Mr. Victor Owusu, a bus driver at Mpaem said, considering the former MCEs age, the change was necessary and that the municipality needs innovative minds to make it vibrant.

Mr. Joseph Okochampah said he has long waited for the change to happen due to the former MCEs age. So he was elated to hear the news. He says, he thinks Madam Comfort Asante needed to have been sent home long before now and that the municipality needs a new and vibrant person to put the municipality on the right path.

Nana Kyeame Kwasi Dabo, a sub chief in the municipality said, it was very wrong for Madam Comfort to be replaced because she has done and still doing a very good job in the municipality and should have been allowed to finish her full term.
