NJNM LIMITED VOTER REGISTRATIONS ENDS

The Electoral Commission (EC) limited voter registration exercise 2024, which began on the 7th May, 2024 in the New Juaben North constituency has officially come to an end on Wednesday May, 29th, 2024 after the extension of two (2) additional days.

The Electoral Commission projected to register about 623,000 first time voters within 21 days but later had to extend it to enable them enroll in the National album of the EC ahead of the 7th December, 2024 general elections .

By the close of the twenty-three (23) days, limited voter registration exercise in the New Juaben North Constituency, the Municipal Officer of the Electoral Commission had registered a total number of one thousand seven hundred and eighty (1780) applicants.

Out of the total number registered, 847 were males and 933 females respectively. Twelve (12) applicants out of the total number registered had challenges resulting in the retaining of their ID cards in compliance with the guidelines of the Commission. These twelve IDs were pending a determination by the statutory committee to investigate per constitutional instrument (CI) 127 governing the registration exercise.

According to the New Juaben North Municipal Electoral Officer, Madam Dorcas Akoto-Donkor, the committee had already sat on the challenge made against the twelve (12) applicants and waiting for final determination by next week Tuesday, 11th June, 2024.
