NEW JUABEN NORTH MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY HOLDS GENERAL ASSEMBLY MEETING

The New Juaben North Municipal Assembly has held its first ordinary meeting of the first session of the third assembly at the Assembly hall.

The Municipal Chief Executive, the Municipal coordinating director, chiefs, the presiding member, Assembly members and heads of departments at the Municipal Assembly were all present at the meeting.

In the welcome address the Hon. Presiding member for the Municipal Assembly, Ishmael Afram, entreated everyone at the meeting to contribute their ideas to help accelerate the development of the Assembly and Municipality.

The Hon. Municipal Chief Executive, Dr. Edward Asante Antwi started his speech by welcoming everyone to the meeting and continued to brief the house on the current situation of the Assembly. He said, significant efforts are being made to increase the Assembly’s internally generated fund (IGF) base, in order to meet its numerous commitments.

He said management is finally done with the printing of the property rate bills and distribution of the said bills is in progress. He urged the Hon. Assembly members to assist the Assembly to sensitize their people to enable the Assembly work effectively.

Hon. Edward Asante Antwi on his address on health said, significant progress has so far been made in improving the health care and wellbeing of the people. He said, the health sector has implemented various health programs and initiatives aimed at promoting healthier lifestyles, increasing access to healthcare services and addressing the unique health needs of the population.

In regards to security, he said the municipality is relatively peaceful. However, our municipality requires total collaboration between various stakeholders including, law enforcement agencies, emergency services, government officials and community members.

Speaking on education, he said school enrollment have significantly improved. A total of twenty three thousand, seven hundred and ninety (23,790) pupils are enrolled in basic schools, out of which eleven thousand, eight hundred and seventy eight (11,878) are males and eleven thousand, nine hundred and twelve (11,912) are females.

The Assembly Planting for Export and Rural Development (PERD) project, has distributed a total of hundred and twenty two thousand, two hundred and sixty seven (122,267) oil palm seedlings from 2019 to 2024, to six hundred and eighty six (686) farmers in the Municipality.

Hon. Edward Asante Antwi made mention of the Assembly being in collaboration with Ghana Enterprise Agency, in partnership with Master Card foundation, organized a training program for three hundred (300) youth apprentices. To help start up their businesses and gear them towards entrepreneurship.
