ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARDS AND HEALTH RISK MANAGEMENT

The Chief Executive, Hon. Samuel Adongo accompanied by Municipal Coordinating Director and Officers from the Assembly, paid a working visit to the Municipality’s refuse dump site to assess sanitation conditions and waste management practiced there.
The visit forms part of the Assembly’s ongoing effort to promote environmental cleanliness and safeguard public health.
During the inspection, the team observed several challenges, including the overflow of refuse in some section of the dump and poor access road, hindering the smooth movement of waste collection trucks.
These conditions were noted to pose serious environmental hazards and health risk to nearby communities if not addressed urgently.
The MCE and his team interacted with Sanitation Personnel on site, expressing his concern about the situation and emphasized the need for coordinated effort to improve waste management in order to protect public health.
He emphasized on the need for regular evacuation of refuse, improvement of access routes and stricter enforcement of sanitation by- laws.
The visit ended with a call for immediate and long-term interventions aimed at improving waste management practices and ensuring a cleaner, healthier environment for all resident within the Municipality.
