A PUBLIC REACTION REPORT ON 2025 YEAR BUDGET

The people of New Juaben North Municipality were engaged in a public reaction to seek their views in relation to the mid-Year Fiscal Policy Review of the Budget statement and Economic Policy of the Government of Ghana for 2024 financial year.

The Presentation is in fulfilment of section 28 of the Public financial management Act, 2016 (Act 921) and Regulation 24 of the Public financial management Regulations (L.I 2378).

The opinions obtained are as follows;

Mr. Kwame Amoako, a teacher at Oyoko said he was hoping to hear a reduction of the taxes on imported goods, the exemption of taxes on sanitary pads, a total scrape out of the e-levy and an increment in salary of government workers.

Madam Gertrude Tawiah , a teacher at Jumapo said that, the budget put together is only in favor of the government to enable them amass wealth because, there wasn’t anything stated in the budget to ease the suffering of the people.

Madam Patricia Akuah, a hotel receptionist at Akwadum said that she did not listen to the budge at all.

Mr. Eric Nyamekye, a Nurse at Asikasu said that he wished bank rates would be reduced to enable people apply for bank loans.

Madam Mercy Dodo a retired headmistress at Effiduase said, she was hoping to hear the reduction in all taxes to help reduce the prices of commodities.

An Engineer at Suhyen, Mr. Enoch Aboagye mentioned that, he listened carefully to the budget reading but, there were too many technical words being used so he didn’t understand a majority of what was being said.

Adobea Antwi, a business woman said, she was waiting to hear that, there has been a reduction in fuel prices. Since it is one of the key determining factors in the pricing of commodities, and reason why things are getting more expensive by the day.

Mr. Kwame Frimpong, a farmer at Asokore said, he was expecting the government to remove covid 19 taxes, scrapping of E-levy taxes and sanitation taxes to reduce hardship on Ghanaians.
