MCE ENTREAT CHURCHES TO ADHERE TO COVID-19 SAFETY PROTOCOLS

The Municipal Chief Executive of New Juaben North Municipal Assembly, Hon. Comfort Asante has urged churches within the Municipality to abide by the safety corona virus protocols as churches begin to worship again.

The ban on public gathering by the president Nana Akufo-Addo when the country started recording Covid-19 cases affected the churches which made them close down for a period of time.

The president however, has eased the restrictions of public gathering and people are allowed to go back in churches to worship so far as the church and congregation follow safety protocols of the corona virus.

Speaking at a meeting held at the New Juaben North Municipal Assembly hall, the Municipal Chief Executive said she believes if not for God, the world would have a worst impact than what it is experiencing now.

She also stated the Assembly in its small way is ensuring safet5y within the Municipality now that churches are reopened.

“Therefore the Assembly is assisting the churches in the Municipality by providing veronica buckets, tissue, liquid soap, and hand sanitizers to make sure the churches have enough to ensure everyone is safe and also adhere to the preventive COVID-19 protocols”. She said.

Honourable Comfort Asante stressed the disease is not a hoax. “It is real and it is very dangerous so we should all make sure that at all times we have our facemask on and follow other safety protocols so we don’t contract the disease”. She added.

The Municipal Health Director for New Juaben North Municipal Assembly, Madam Nana Yaa Konadu in her address said disease is here and until a cure is found, the believe is that it is here to stay but we also have to return life to some form of normalcy.

Madam Nana Yaa Konadu stated the “New Juaben North Municipality has recorded sixteen (16) cases so far but the health directorate is doing a good job in contact tracing and treatment patience with COVID-19”.

She encouraged pastors to take the mantle in educating their church members in the preventive protocols to also help spread the educational level of the pandemic and if they need any form of assistance, they can call on the Municipal Health Directorate for help.

The police commander of New Juaben North, DSP Akolotse Young, said the police will be moving round every Sunday to inspect if the churches are following safety protocols laid out by government.

“We have taken note of civilians who do not follow the directive of wearing facemasks and are taking measures to deal with the situation appropriately”. He added.
