SANITATION EXERCISE AT JUMAPO

The New Juaben North Municipal Assembly took its fifth month National Sanitation Exercise instituted by Government to Jumapo in the Municipality where the market and some principal streets and gutters in the town have been cleaned.
The New Juaben North Municipal Chief Executive,Hon. Samuel Adongo said he is impressed with the level of commitment some of the people in the Municipality have shown since the inception of the exercise five months ago.
He however stressed that cleaning the surroundings should not be a monthly affair but an everyday habbit to prevent sanitation related diseases.
He said the Assembly will enforce its bylaws on sanitation in the subsequent exercise and cautioned that anyone who will not partake in it will face the full rigor of the law.
Hon. Adongo further stated that the Jumapo Market which is the only market centre in the Municipality is not up to standard and disclosed that resources are being put together to upgrade it to standard early next year while the assembly await the 24 hour economy market project from government.
The MCE stressed that the Assembly is also in talk with the Chiefs in the Municipality to give out some lands to establish a standard lorry station to boost transportation and economic activities in the area.
The Municipal Environmental Health Officer,Mr. Daniel Kwaku Darku urdged all to take this exercise seriously because his office will not hesitate to sermon individuals who refuse to participate.He stated that sanitation issue must be of concern to all citizens to reduce the risk of disease outbreak.
The sanitation exercise was attended by the Fire Service personnel, NCCE and the Assembly staff and some residents of Jumapo.
