The Municipal Chief Executive of New Juaben North has called on all ensundry to unite in other to move the nation forward.
Speaking at the 66th independence day of Ghana celebration at the SDA College of Education Park by the New Juaben North Municipal Assembly; with the theme “Our Unity, Our Strength, Our Purpose”.
The colorful celebration saw a match past by some security service personnel from the Prisons Service, Police Service, Fire Service with the various school cadets. Basic, Junior High and Senior High Schools also participated in the parade.
Hon comfort Asante stressed that as a people, we may have our political, ethnic, religious and cultural differences, but in spite of this, we must first of all see ourselves as one people with a common destiny, and always put the nation’s interest first.
The current economic situation in the country, such as high inflation, high cost of fuel, depreciation of the cedis and high cost of living has brought hardship to our country. Although this problem is not peculiar to only Ghana, Government is putting in appropriate measures to address these issues to stabilize the economy and bring relief to our people.
This has compelled government to take a very hard and tough decision of engaging the IMF for financial bailout over our debt situation which has led to the implementation of the Domestic Debt Exchange Programme.
Though this decision may come with some inconveniences for our people, it is the best alternative and urges everyone to have faith in the Government, as it makes efforts to ensure that our economy bounces back.
Just as our President, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo Government have introduce a programme such as Gold for Oil to reduce the pressure on the dollars needed to import petroleum products into our country.
The policy aims at finding sources of cheaper fuel on the world market for importation into Ghana.
The Chief Executive thanked men and women of the security services, who put their lives on the line to keep the country safe. Students were applauded in making the celebration a colorful display. Awards were given to schools that excelled in the Match Past.
