The New Juaben North Municipality took part in the tree planting initiative to spearhead the Green Ghana Project by Government of Ghana, on Friday, 10th June, 2022 at Asokore.
The ceremony which occurred across the country is aimed at ensuring Ghana returns to its previous era where trees were mostly seen at vantage places in the Country to protect our environment.
The Member of Parliament for New Juaben North Constituency, Hon Nana Adjei Boateng in his remarks emphasis on the need to invest in the tree planting as a way of dealing with the global current climate change to avert future effects on livelihood.
He urged Ghanaians to support the Governments agenda by partaking in the exercise and ensured that trees planted are well taken care of.
The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon Comfort Asante was grateful to the Asokore traditional council and the people in the Municipality for their support in making the program a success.
She stressed the need for all Ghanaians to join the exercise to solve the many challenges climate change has brought on the global world.
She assured the Municipality that, the Assembly in collaboration with other stakeholders will see to the survival of the trees planted to yield its beneficial purpose.
The Forestry Assistant District Manager, Mr. Joseph Osei Sakyi charged the Public to visit offices of the forestry commission’s outfit to request for seedlings to their communities without any cost.
Nana Professor Adusei Sefa Tweneboah, Gyaasehene (Benkum Division) representing Asokore Hene thanked the Government for the initiative to restore our forest from deforestations.
He urged all his people to embrace green Ghana project by making sure each one plants tree seedlings today and take care of it to grow and to make our environment a comfortable habitat.
