INAUGURATION OF WATER AND SANITATION COMMITTEE BY NJNMA

New Juaben North Municipal Assembly has inaugurated 65 Member Water and Sanitation (WATSAN) Committee to be in charge of the 13 boreholes in the following communities, Effiduase, Akwadum and Asokore.

Presents were the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Comfort Asante, Municipal Coordinating Director Mr. Alhaji Amuzu Tijani, Municipal Finance Officer Mr. Alhaji Muntara AIhasan, Assistant Director Victoria Ghartey, Municipal Human Resource Officer, Grace Ohene Amponsah and the Municipal Officer for Water and Sanitation Officer Mr. Sylvester Owusu Osei.

The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Comfort Asante in her  address said   WATSAN Committee Members should take the training seriously to help each person involved in serving his or her communities well and to achieve our purposes of taking over the ownership, control, sustainability of  the water and to keep the environment very clean.

The coordinating director explain to the members the various  positions  that each person  occupy , roles and responsibilities such as chairman, secretary, treasurer, hygiene officer and caretaker.

The chairman is the leader of each committee and as such call for meetings in consultations with the opinion leaders such as the chief and his or her elders about any decision they want to take or plan.

As a secretary to the board, he or she always take in charge of writing minutes of their meetings and also writes invitation letters for meetings.

The treasurers were also thought about how to received money from caretakers and keep proper records of money and for save banking at bank.

The MFO took participants through water sale and its management, he explain that before one can become a treasurer one has to be able to write and read due to the nature of the work.
