NEW JUABEN NORTH MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY HOLDS GENERAL ASSEMBLY MEETING
The first ordinary meeting of the fourth session of the second Assembly of New Juaben North Municipal Assembly took place at the Assembly Hall. Present at the meeting were; the Municipal Chief Executive, Municipal Coordinating Director, Chiefs, Presiding Member, Assembly Men and Women and Heads of Department of the New Juaben North Municipal Assembly.
In the welcome address, Hon. Presiding Member for New Juaben North Municipal Assembly, Dr. Edward Asante Antwi, called on all to come out with ideas that would accelerate the development of the Assembly and in the long run, the municipality as a whole.
The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Comfort Asante, addressed the session meeting of the Assembly on finance, and said the Assembly has been progressively increasing its revenue base and also GRA with the support of the Assembly have rolled out the property rate collection programme with one technical supervisory officer who was posted to the assembly by GRA.
Hon. Comfort Asante, in her address on health said, the Assembly has received a structure from the Joseph Osei Djaba Foundation to be used as a CHIPS compound for the Fofie Electoral Area and this will help bring a better and immediate healthcare services, to the people in the municipality.
In terms of security, she stated that the municipality is relatively peaceful, however, there were some disturbances at Akwadum involving the indigenes and some nomadic herdsmen but with the timely interventions of the security agencies, the situation was brought under control.
Hon.Comfort Asante speaking on education, said since education is essential aspect of human development, the Assembly visited some schools in the municipality to mark ‘My first day at school’ programme and distributed some basic stationaries and other educational Items to enhance teaching and learning in the various schools in the municipality.
The assembly in collaboration with GAPBUSTER Ghana foundation distributed one hundred and twenty (120) bicycles to three basic schools in the municipality and awarded schools that excelled well in the recently celebrated 66th Independence Day’s march past.
Again, the Assembly distributed 20 pieces of uniforms to the Suhyen Mpeam M/A and Akwadum M/A Schools. She also made mentioned of how the assembly supported the Ghana Education Service to host Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics, Innovation, and Education (STEMIE) Programme camp meeting in order to increase the interest in science and Math among students in the Senior High Schools.
The Assembly as its responsibility towards education and conducive environment for the students, donated fifty (50) dual desk to Pope John Senior High School and hundred (100) dual desk to Effiduase Technical Institute.
