The Department of Social Welfare and Community Development of the New Juaben North Municipal Assembly organized a one-day capacity building training workshop for core management staff and the Disability Fund Management Committee.
This workshop sought to make relevant discussions and deliberations on new guidelines for the management and disbursements of the District Assembly Common Fund for persons with disability in the municipality.
The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Samuel Adongo in his opening remarks stated the importance of the meeting as the discussions to be made will help in the efficient operation of the Assembly.
The Regional Director of the Department of Social Welfare, Mr. Isaac Koramoah Asante during his presentation mentioned that as per the new implementations the Disability Fund Management Committee shall be trained twice a year and undergo a periodic and frequent sensitization.
He further mentions that the new guidelines are to help persons with disability with the smooth application of funds in the Assembly. He stressed that the six member committee will be allocating funds to support not only persons with disabilities but caregivers who give such persons more than 15 hours of care. There shall also be provision of technical aids, assistive devices and equipment to such persons in the municipality.
Present were the Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. Ndinga Nborinyi, Municipal Finance Officer, Mr. Ompong Kwaku William, the Municipal Human Resource, Madam Grace Ohene Amponsah, Mr. Patrick Opong, the Municipal Director of the Department of Social Welfare and Madam Comfort Meah, the Unit Head and Information Officer, Mr. Benjamin Obeng Asiedu.
