The New Juaben North Municipal Assembly has presented items to 15 Persons with Disabilities (PWDs).
The items included 10 deep freezer, 10 ice chest cooler, 1 fufu pounding
Machine and 4 bakery Ovens.
Presenting the items, the Municipal Chief Executive Hon. Comfort Asante asked the beneficiaries to use the tools and other equipment judiciously for the right purposes so that they would become economically empowered, financially independent. This will help contribute their quota to the socio-economic development of their communities. She said the presentation was to raise their standard of living.
Mr. Samuel Sarpong Boateng, Chairman for Ghana federation of Disability New Juaben North, said the Government through the Assembly, had heard the prayers of the PWDs, and presented what they requested so that they can make use of the items to avoid going back to the streets to beg for alms.
According to him, the Government increased the disability fund when they came to power from 1% to 3% and expressed the hope that more would be done.
The Head of Social Service Department, Mrs. Sally Mahama said monitoring will continue as the work demands to make sure the equipment and the tools received today will be used for the purposes you requested for so that the Government intentions for supporting you will be materialized and those found selling it will face the law.
The beneficiaries were drawn from Oyoko, Suhyen, Asokore, and Effiduase.
